Providence Tourism

Providence, Rhode Island is a lively metropolis jam packed with culture, history and some of the most charming architecture you ever will see! Providence itself was kind of reborn throughout the 1990's, as a series of projects known locally as the Providence Renaissance began to transform this wonderful city to its former glory.

The creation of Waterplace Park, lining the river is just one example of how this city burst back to life. If you can, visit in the summertime and prepare to be astounded and amazed at the spectacular WaterFire - water and fire, surely they don't mix too well - you're wrong, it's amazing, as flaming braziers are placed in their dozens all along the length of the river with dreamy instrumental music broadcast for all to enjoy. You won't see anything like it anywhere else.

For all of you "shop till you droppers" out there, Providence can more than provide you with the perfect combination of downtown Malls and Arcades mixed in with small, individual, personal shops scattered around the neighborhoods. The food is to die for and caters for many different international flavors - as you would expect in any buzzing 21st century city. Why not visit the Italian neighborhood in Federal Hill - get some pizza and pasta like mama used to make and then wander into one of the many live music venues which will happily entertain you into the small hours.

As you walk around Providence, Rhode Island, don't forget to look up. It's not for anything sinister, it's just so that you can enjoy the full beauty of the charming architecture which surrounds you - you don't really get the benefit of it at ground level, you'll end up with a crick in your neck by the time you've strolled around North Main Street, towards Benefit Street and on to the home of Brown University, College Hill (aptly named!). You'll see an eclectic mix of Colonial, Federal, Victorian and Greek Revival buildings, all in one walk.

As if that wasn't enough of a reason to take a trip to Providence Tourism, they've also got a great variety of splendid museums, planetarium, parks and a fantastic zoo.

A trip to Providence, Rhode Island certainly does have something for everyone, and if you haven't visited this newly reborn city yet, it's about time you did.
